| Wow, no disconnects yet. you guys can figure the math on how long it has been now (Not long really). I've been 6 tabling straight since I last posted. I dont want to get my hopes to high, but all good so far. Man poker is so much easier without having to figure in the chance of getting disconnected after raising. It cuts down my tendency to shove, just in case. If I was a gambling man (which I am) I would be willing to bet the modems, all of them, were at fault. I would say .25 percent chance electic outlet problem helped, 13.75 pecent chance reducing to 5m connection helped, 46 pecent chance new modem helped (have heard many new modems are bad right out of the box), and 40 percent chance that I have just been lucky since. I will keep anyone interested up to date. |

I'm super happy right now, I'm f--n around on micro stake tables, but it feels good not to have the random force fold possiblility ever present in my face. I'm keepin my fingers crossed.
Still not a single disconnect. amazing. hopefully tommarow morning i'm not looking like a fool again |

Now I'm really thinking it was the modem. Just cos they were different brands b4 doesn't mean they didn't have the same chipset. Sounds like you got a model now with a chipset that's better at handling weak signals or dirty lines.
Congrats. |

| absolutely, it has to be the modem. there is hardly anything before it. a 3 foot coax, wall plate and the spliter, still no disconnects. |

| the exact same modem installed a couple of days ago as I got today made all the difference. I am pretty sure of it. Modems are often crap right out of the box (actually plastic), even the same apparent model. Ambit modems are absolutely worthless (skinny over heating devices that should be smashed to little pieces). Motorola good as long as it hasn't been in the techs van forever. Anyways, this has been my saga. When a tech screws a filter/amplifier on your coax to bring your modem into specs, tell him to get you a modem that is within specs!!! Ronin, your spot on. Believe me, I will say when your not (or at least if I think your not) |

I would think this is an important post, others have to have had similiar issues. 3 modems and constant pressure on my provider is way to much. I had to call almost every day for a long long time. Monday the best tech/supervisor is supposed to come to my house. Maybe I shouldnt cancel, so they can know how to correct such issues. If the only thing that could cure my constant disconnect problems was a carry out self-installed modem after many techs failed, then they need to rework the entire way they respond to customer complaints. Heck I pulled the sticker off the modem I turned in just because I saw the tech guy had to type in the previous mac address of the the modem he replaced before that. If this makes any since.

Cannon are you networking?
If so it could be a problem with Norton.
Took me a year to find it finally
I disconnected only 2-3 times a day tho |

| I network my 2 computers through a seperate and direct 1394 connection for sharing files and printers only. I use a hard wired D-link router with ethernet cables for internet use. But I do have norton intenet security on both computers. I have only lost connection twice since friday, not bad at all now. |
