Not banned, just the young 'uns are waiting for Google to absorb everything and make it easier for them to skim-read the classics...

...like the novelization of "Star Trek: Generations" Wink

Very Happy I just purchased his new book that came out last week called "The Godfather of Poker". I must say that it has been a very interesting read so far. Lots of great stories about his past along with many colorful characters over the years, definitely a must read IMHO.

Isn't that just a republishing of an older book from like the 1980s or even 1970s?

Very Happy You're thinking of his Super System book that was re-published as Super System 2 with a few different contributors ( Daniel Negreanau, Jennifer Harman, etc. ).

Last week his autobiography titled The Godfather of Poker was released and is available in many bookstores.

Nope.

Super/System 2 is actually a complete overhaul, only the Doyle NLHE cash game section is virtually unchanged, all the other sections were either removed or re-written. (I bought SS2, and skimmed thru SS1 and decided it was not worth buying).

I was thinking of a different book, one that is not full of strats, instead it's like a personal history.

Okay, I just looked on Amazon for Mr. T2's name, found what I was thinking of:
"According to Doyle" vs. "Poker Wisdom of a Champion" -- same book, different title.

Just thought I'd offer this as an FYI / warning to anyone who is a Doyle-a-holic.

As one of the reviews on Amazon sez (for "According to Doyle", obv) ...
"
This book is EXACTLY the SAME book as Poker Wisdom of a Champion. I don't know why it has a different title and different cover, but it the same book. DO NOT BUY the three book Doyle Brunson package recommended by Amazon- or you will get two of the same book!!!
"

or, "From Publishers Weekly", re. "Poker Wisdom of a Champion"...
"
Originally published in 1984 under the title According to Doyle, this collection by a World Series Poker champion is longer on anecdotes than it is on advice.
"

"ATD" = 1984, "PWOAC" = 2003. Money grab? Editorial update? Republished to take advantage of Moneymaker era?

You decide.

Does that mean this new book, TGOP, is just the old book(s) with a bunch of new stories and content? Since it's so new, it's hard to tell from the Amazon page. I wouldn't mind picking it up if it's updated for the "new internet young guns" generation, instead of just dropping names that only fans of Sam O'Connor would recognize Wink
