I was wondering if anyone has had a chance to read or is reading this book. I have read HHI and got a lot out of it. I am in the middle of HHII and I am really enjoying it. I noticed that HHIII is called "The Workbook" and was just wondering what it covers. I will be purchasing it no matter what, just looking for some insight.
Also, what is a good first book for someone who is just starting out a the cash tables. I've seen WLLH and SSH are out there, but where do i start? What I have read so far is:
Phil Hellmuth's Texas Hold'em (read about 1/2 the book and didn't like it)
Little Green Book (audio)
Theory of Poker
Harrington on Hold'em I
Harrington on Hold'em II (currently reading)
After I am done with HHII I think i am going to go back and reread Theory of Poker.
Thanks in advance for your input. |

| Thanks OpDS311, but I already have it in my cart and ready to go. I was just looking to see what people thought of it so far and find a good book for someone just starting out in RG's. I am buying HHIII, I just need a good opinion on the other book so i can buy them both at the same time. |

| From what I've heard, HoH3 is a compilation of problems like the ones in between chapters in the other two books. As for the other question, what ring games are you going to play, FL or NL? |

I doubt this will post because I always get the debug error.
I pre-ordered HIII through B&N and they gave me an email yesterday that it shipped out. |

Unfortunately there aren't a lot of good books for micro NL cash games.
As a first approximation you can use LGB and ignore anything that talks about short stack play, being pot committed, or dealing with increasing blinds. In a cash game these really don't apply--you don't need to push your short stack on marginal hands because the blinds are going up. The blinds are fixed and you can buy more chips.
WLLH did help me a bit with cash NL games when I was starting out again, but with the focus on limit it isn't perfect.
Theory of poker is always good to read. |

| The new 2+2 book, No Limit Hold 'em: Theory and Practice, is probably a good read. I've read some good things about Pot-Limit & No-Limit Poker by Reuben and Ciaffone as well. Even if SSHE is for limit games, there are some good concepts in there, as long as you can tell what applies to NL and make some adjustments. |

| Didn't get to read all of it - stopped at Borders to see if they had it. Read a few chapters, mainly the multiple hands he looks at; a few '05 ME hands, and some hands from Monte Carlo Milions. In each of them, he gives options in a multiple choice format: call, check, bet/how much, etc.; explanations follow each stage of the hand. |

| I've started working my way through it and am enjoying it. It's a good way to put together all you got from the first two books. |
