Let me start off by saying I am an mtt grinder, and hardly ever sit at a cash table. I sometimes sit for a bit if I am waiting on a mtt to start, or if I have limited time to play. I have never made any real money with them, although I believe I am up just a bit on them.
My question is: I have recently discovered some cash tables with antes, would this be easier for a tournament player to learn, given the fact that I do well enough in most of my tourneys to make the antes and have experience playing with them. |

Not in my opinion because MTT is about stealing the blinds and antes and their isnt normally room for much post flop play when the antes are in play, certainly not all 3 streets. Also, normally games with antes have deeper buyin stacks, eg 200BB, and its not that i don't think you couldn't adapt, its just that stealing the antes is an aim of cash games but its not the main goal really, the main goal is too try to build a big pot and create bigger plus EV spots than just taking it down pre.
I'd say cap games would most suit MTT players, or even shortstacking ante tables, and then even just normal games before ante tables - although your sizing pre flop should be good in ante games given your MMT knowledge. |
