|
|
i've found it impossible to win with the BEST hand at online poker. This is NOT a small sample, this is over 2 years and 200,000 hands of online poker at FTP and Bodog. I've tried for 3 years to win with BEST hand FLP or TRN, and i lost $ 3,000. The last 3 months, i've tried to win with WORST hand FLP or TRN, and i've won $ 4,000.
So - i've finally changed my strategy. If - i have BEST hand flop or turn, i fold immediately. If - i have worst hand flop or turn, i shove all in. I come out with best hand, in inverse relationship to the odds. If - i'm a 20 pct dog with under pair vs over pair, i win 80 pct of the time. If i'm a 30 pct dog because i'm dominated due to a common card, i win 70 pct of the time.
if i have pocket aces pre-flop (the worst thing to see at FTP), i immediately fold, walk the dog, drink a beer, and then - sit back down. (i've learned my lesson playing pocket A's - - i'm NOT doing that any more).
so - do those with a lot of online experince (2 years or more, 200,000 hands or more) agree ? is the only way to win at online poker - is by playing only your WORST hands - - and folding your BEST hands ? ?
i've found it's the only way to win at FTP |

This is extremely good advice, and no reg will admit it, but it's all true. I encourage everyone to play like this if you want to win in the long run, especially at 1/2 nl and 2/4 nl 6max games on Poker Stars when you are sitting at a table with nilgiri. |

intelligent well-thought out post ITT
seriously though - you're right. FTP operates in some kind of parallel universe where the rules of poker have been inverted and nothing is as it seems.....
AA is now the worst starting hand, and 2-7o is the new nuts.
oh and ps - hope to see you at the tables |

He's trying to help out us ignorant forumers to play poker successfully. It doesn't matter that I happen to have a ROI of 107% over a 380 sample of MTTs and won almost $1500 online, because I always try to have the best hand going in. Either I am so bad that I consistently have the worst hand or I am on one of the biggest heaters ever experienced by a poker player. Hmmm... |

want to help ME out with strategy,so I can win $2,200 so I can buy my first new Imac ?
I think some of his post is valid. I've been dealt pocket aces or queens only to see 3 7s come up on the flop and some guy has 4 7s with the flop or even worse, get dealt queens and the flop comes up all hearts and the guy across from me has a heart flush
there are times I wonder just how some of these people get hands dealt to them and manage to beat me with them |

Well my friend poker is a very complex game, if you know the hand odds, pot odds, implied odds, the importance of ICM, which does take a good amount of memorization, you have barely scratched the surface of what you will have to know to be a good poker player. You also need to know position, have patience, be able to learn your oppenent's strengths and weaknesses and how to exploit their weaknesses while avoid being exploited. If you figure all that out, and are still losing, I'd have to refer you to a better poker player than myself. |
