Has anyone heard of a term "stop and go?" I think it's when you raise, let yourself get re-raised and then go all-in.
Can someone clarify the term or the move? |

Welcome tot he forums, Big D.
Stop and go is when you just call a raise with a short stack, instead of reraising all-in. People do this because short stacks always get called pre-flop if they reraise all-in. When you stop and go you see the flop, then make an all-in for around the size of the pot, give or take. You're more likely to get a fold with a flop bet than a pre-flop all-in. Also, if the flop comes ugly you can fold. The most common hand to pull a stop and go with is a small-medium pair.
I'm not sure if the caller has to be in the big blind or not. In the big bling, the short would 'stop' the betting pre-flop by just calling, then 'go' on the flop by betting first. |

"stop and go" means that OOP hero rasies-->villain reraises-->hero flats---->hero goes allin or bets BIG
this can be done on most streets or pre but usually raising happens OTT and shove OTR
when this happens OTT and OTR its mostly done by the nuts or near to it.
if ur opp is really tricky and nows thats the way ull respond to a move like this he might do it as a bluff(highly unlikely to ever experience this) |

Hero doesn't have to raise first. But has to be oop so they are first to act after the flop-or i guess another street but that makes much less sense. This is almost always a preflop/postflop move.
The idea is that by three betting all in pre with a short stack you will have no fold equity as the original raiser will be getting good odds to call with any hand he opened with.
So instead you can flat call OOP. from the blind, big blind preferably. As this stops the action (STOP). The big blind is better to do this as doig it from the sb doesn't close the action.
Then you can shove the flop. (GO) the idea is to shove any flop as if you are short stacked enough to be doing this you are probably commited by the call pre.
If the villian has missed the flop, as he often will, he will be more likely to fold on the flop then he would have been to fold pre. |
