Who do you guys think I should talk to about the law with online poker for USA people ? Because I was wanting to play real money again but I dont want to break the law and get caught. And I know you guys say this and that.. But I was just wondering who'd to call or get ahold of?

District attorney will tell you exactly what the law is in your state, or should be able to.

Who cares. It's illegal to jaywalk. It's illegal to cheat on your taxes... etc.

It's not a violation of federal law to play poker online in the US. However some states have laws making it illegal for state residents to play.

Yeah, and in one of those states, Phil Gordon lives. So I wonder when they are going to do a raid on his home. Mr. Green

In the US,
Play chips are not illegal period.

There is no federal law against players playing poker for money.

A couple of States have made it illegal to play online poker for $, Washington State being one of them. Google and search for info, there are links somewhere in this forum to lists of states.

Federal law deals with the banks and money processors and makes it illegal for them to move money to and from online pokering sites, but the laws are vague and there are questions on enforcement. Again, Google and searching the web can get you up to date info on this issue.

They (the feds) are not going to come kicking in your door and dragging you off to prison for playing some poker (yet), but state laws could be another story. However, I have not yet heard of a single individual being busted for some recreational pokering. But, I am not privy to all the happening everywhere in the US obviously.

Hell, home games got more of a chance of getting busted than someone playing online poker.

There is no State law barring me from playing where I live. I used to be able to deposit with just my debit card issued by my bank with no problems ever, however, I have not deposited in a very long time, so I am not sure that is still the case.

I thought play chips have a cash value of 1/2 cent per 500,000. and play chips can be used to win real money along with free rolls that are included in the play money area of FT. That is why you have to be 18 to play, even with play money.

hmm, you might be right about that. Play chips can be used to win real money. I was under the impression that from Washington State residents that they were ok playing for play chips and freerolls but hell I could be wrong. OP can find the info somewhere on the interwebz.

lol I aint running from cops. Anyways I was just wondering because I quit playing online when that bill got pass. (figure with corrupt gov as is in usa) then screw the chance. And since I d think Id do a good profit from playing real... Id be affraid to get busted. But the real thing I was just thinking was I know its illegal to cash out.. But adding money into an account.. and just playing and never cashing out (for next few years atleast). Then Id think thats okay.. Because I have nothing to do with cashing and dealing with banks.. I am just playing real money..online and not cashed out.
