A strategy I learned from Rounders
What are your experiences of using overbets rather than value bets? They look great in theory but havent really worked for me. So should I just stick to value betting when I have a great hand OTR? |

Why would you? The only advantage of it is to ruin pot odds for your opponent. You can do that without risking as much though.
If you are playing micro-stakes I would definitely stay away from this...Beginners do not know much about pot odds or much else, if they like what they have they will call anything. So if you got the nuts, just value bet...Get the most out if it. |

Your explaination is exactly why you do want to use the overbet at the micro-stakes. Many times they will pay you off because they can't get away from a semi-strong hand, regardless of the size of the bet in relationship to the pot size. |

Yeah overbets work well at the micros..and early in MTTs.
Not so much when you move up or get deeper in an mtt as people here are usually a bit more clued up. |
