Now some of this hand may seem standard to you, but take into account this is only your second time playing. I've taught her how to play before and she's seen me play online a little bit, but this is only her second time playing in a real game (home game). Here's how the hand played out.
6 Handed .05/.10 NLHE
A - UTG
B - Villain 1 ($17)
C - Me ($16)
D - Button
E - SB - Girlfriend ($10) (QdQh)
F - BB
B limps, C limps, E raises to .55, B calls, C calls
Flop - Qs - Js - 6s
E bets $1, B calls $1, C raises to 3.25, E calls, B calls
Turn - 5c
E checks, B bets 1.50, C raises to $6.50, E folds, B Calls
River - Ad
B bets 2.50, C raises all-in, B calls
Player C shows As - 5s
Player B shows Ks - Ts
As the hand was going to showdown she showed the people sitting next to her what she folded. I could not believe she folded a set there as when you're first starting out, you're pretty much attached to anything top pair or better, regardless of the board. After the hand I asked her why she folded, and she said because on the flop she bet and got called and raised, she thought she might be beat. Then she checked to see what the other players were going to do on the turn and after another bet and raise, she said she thought her hand was no good. This was her second time playing.

ah not really.. some people are instinctively tight-passive when they start out. i've played some home games where any time there is 3 to a suit on board there are 1 or 2 people who immediately say "ok who's got the flush??"
not to take away though since this was a pretty well-played hand with the exception of the flop bet being a little too small. |

if this had been played at full tilt,
she would have made a full house on the river

You might be right on the tight passive things, but I guess for me and my friends we started out the opposite. Aggression followed by more aggression and endless bluffing. This resulted in stationy calls, and my whole perception of top pair calls anything. |
