Having trouble with my game, I try to play tight, but it just isn't working at this level. I lose a lot to hands I feel aren't good starting hands. I shove good ones, doesn't work. Seems people are willing to risk their money on anything. I usually deposit $30 a month as recreation. But would like to build my bankroll, so I can play higher stakes, and hopefully get better quality play. I practice BM, that's how I can play on $30 for a month. Occasionally I'll place in a tourney. I'm better at sngs. I find that in ring games, playing good starting hands just isn't enough. I'm doing suggestions from tha FTA, but find they work best at higher stakes. I have watched prople playing at higher stakes, most often when there is a showdown, players had respectable starting hands. IMO. So, if I'm to grind up, I asked this poll uestion. I know it depends on players and games, I would just like an overall suggestion on how you folks would play.

| I would advise putting a bit more thought into how aggressive or passive you are playing. |

How about if I just hand it over to one of you true grinders that started with a deposit of $500, and let me see you work your magic at the micro level! I'll watch.
and ty doc for a reasonable suggestion.

| How Mirco? the lower you play I would play tighter pre flop, value bet more and bluff less. people at the mircos HATE folding, so play as if you know your opponents won't fold. |

didn't vote.
not really sure whether you are talking about sit and goes or ring games.
i will assume you talk about 2NL ring games, probably full ring.
playing tight will probably never be wrong. don't bluff and don't get fancy.
most of all, don't assume anybody will notice your table image or make good calls or folds. just play very basic poker and don't try to apply what you have seen at higher stakes
be aware how the others are playing, play back at loose/aggro players with strong hands. |

I've seen better play at higher stakes, not so much betting on any two cards.
TY for your suggestions.

TY for the suggestions, but at higher stakes, they are playing better poker, are they not?

in general, yes most do. but that also includes a lot of thinking on both parts (you have to think more yourself, villian is more often likely to be thinking,...all stuff thats comes into play)
at the micros you should never make the mistake to assume that villian is thinking. |

Ok, so I tried 4 tables last night. Played pretty tight pre and post. Took a few peeks at high suited connectors/high connectors.
NOTE to self, don't look too hard at them If you don't hit, someone's gonna shove you all in with 28 off!
For my first time multi table, I lost a bit in the begining, after I tightened up, I gained $6 back of the $8 I had been down. So, lesson learned. |

Well this is a leak for starters. Basically you want to play Tight-Aggressive, ie be selective with your starting hands and positions, and betting hard when you enter a pot. Learn to range your opponents: just because people are limping every hand doesn't mean they're impossible to read. |
