I think it's interesting to take note of the hand of the hand at 15:15 in video (1/3) of this series where Aaron loses a big pot with KQ. Here's the hand so you don't have to watch the vid...
Blinds: 20/40
Aaron: 4400 in chips
Beast: 1800 in chips
***PREFLOP***
Dealt to Aaron [Kd Qd]
Beast (UTG) raises to 140
one fold
Aaron (MP1) calls 140
one fold
Protege (SB) calls 120
one fold
***FLOP***
[Ad 8c Jc]
Protege checks
Beast checks
Aaron checks
***TURN***
[Ad 8c Jc] [As]
Protege checks
Beast checks
Aaron checks
***RIVER***
[Ad 8c Jc As] [Th]
Protege checks
Beast bets 280
Aaron raises to 800
Protege folds
Beast raises to 1689 and is all in
Aaron calls
Beast shows [Ah Js] for a full house, Aces full of Jacks
Isn't there like no value in raising this river bet as all we're doing is getting his likely steal/thin value bet to fold and giving him maximum value for a slow played full house or TT.
I'm also really surprised that the villain played AJ that way. He's usually showing up with TT here and sometimes JJ or AA. |

| Most players would lead out OTF with AJ here because of the flush draw and the likelihood someone else also has an Ace. The villain chooses to check though. After making the nuts OTT when it checked around OTF, the villain was pretty much forced to check. I agree Aaron made a bad raise OTR. Trip Aces is about the only hand that would call a river raise that he can beat. |
