Perhaps there could be an option of dropping a person for timing out for X times is a row, from certain games that do not involve anything more than play chips.
If there is more than free chips involved, it would be unfair to drop anyone, because the reasons behind the sitting out would be just as varied as those people sitting/timing out. |

The "only" people who seem to be seriously complaining about this are "freerollers"...what a joke
I'd like to see you people play some buy-in tournaments or SNGs and make the same dumb remark.
Personally I'd love to play a HU SNG against someone who decided to sit-out. I'd be pushing that raise button just as quickly as I could to rape their blinds so I could win the tournament.
Sits out = Free tournament chips to build your stack = Less people to compete for the top end of the prize pool
Geez..its not a bad thing |

| Was today's $2,500 turbo freeroll just a test for full tilt to see how the new software worked on super big tournaments? |

| The other day in a Poker Million freeroll i took basically every chip off my starting table because i was the only guy playing then i got moved to another table where there were 2 live players. Its an advantage just a boring one |

Unless you are playing Heads Up Shootouts and both players sit out. |

Nope you don't get it. In shootouts you have to play till someone wins. This means waiting 'till the blinds go up and those pandas go all in. And it takes foreeeeeeeeeever. |

I don't think I've ever seen a player that went that deep just "sit out" on purpose.
AT the start, sure. I have been in MANY freerols where only 1 or 2 others are at my table. (maybe registered and forgot, slept through, didn't care, whatever).
Usually "we" will just "chop" and trade raising and blind them out. Boring, but gets you some "free chips".
Collaboration I suppose, but it's a mutual agreement between all the "live" players.
Every so often, a player doesn't want to and that's fine as well. It'll just be a 2 or 3 player game...Starts for loose play but whatever.
Now as far as not allowing people to fold "into the money", that's just plain unreasonable and I'll tell you why (and give you a first hand example of why this would be unfair)!
Someone said before, say you had an emergncey or something that made you HAVE to leave?
Suppose you have a POS 'puter like me and it decides to just crap out on you?
Ooops! I forgot to pay my ISP and they booted me!
Your alarm didn't go off and you slept through it (Yes, I have done that)
How about a brand new update from Full Tilt that completely craps out your system? (sound familiar? hahaha)
There are several legitimate reasons the a player may be "auto-blinding" and if the player folds into the money, so be it. (happens in live tourneys all the time, right?)
Here's an example that I "saw" 1st hand and if the player was penalized for not being there but finishing ITM it would completely unfair.
Now this wasn't a freeroll, but the same principle would apply:
A player I personally know was making it fairly deep in the Double Deuce and the bubble was coming up. Now this player's only internet option is through sateelite connection and for whatever reason it decided to tank out on her, thus "sitting out" and auto-folding.
I just happened to be watching her table at the time - because I donked out about 100 players earlier. GRRR - and noticed her insta-folding and was wondering why she wasn't at least "time-milking/stalling" as she had a pretty short stack.
She called me and besides being pissed at her provider, was really bummed that she probably wouldn't make it ITM because of this. This "would've" been her 1st cash in a big tourney, so that's very understandable.
It ended up that she DID make it ITM, even auto folded to the 2nd ITM bracket.
Now if this were you and through no fault of your own, you didn't receive any prize money wouldn't you think that was unfair?
Even if it is done intentionally, if they earned a big enough stack to foold ITM and are satisfied with the place and don't want to try for a higher place it is completely fine with me.
But as far as freerolls, and starting out like that in the beginning, "they" are never giong to make it ITM and if the other "live" players at the table don't want to co-op, then you'll just have to play it out.
I'd rather play against 2-3 players anyway.
And seriously, if you fold out as a stratagy in the beginning you're "game" is in need of some desperate reworking as you will never fold ITM from the start (well, not impossible, but that's Gazooolion to one odds). |

| why don't you just add another feature that allows a player to leave the table completely, in addition to the current "sit out next hand". This way if something comes up and you know you're not going to be back, you can make the choice to leave the game and not be allowed to return and you would be removed from the game completely at that point. It's your choice. |

How about a check-in feature for those registered early?
For instance, 20 mins prior to a tournament starting a window pops up:
$1,000,000 Guaranteed $2,000 buy-in NL Holdem
Starting in approximately 30 minutes (The 30 will count down and if it expires the user will be automatically unregistered)
2 buttons: Take my seat - Unregister
Let's say the person decides to unregister during the 20 minute seating period - they just go to the Tourny Lobby and unreg and they're removed.
This way it's a much like a normal live tournament.. Obv if you aren't there to play you ain't gonna be playing...
This will really cut down on the number of empty seats in these tournaments, if any...
Of course this is just an idea not something final, but a check-in type system would be the way to go about it... |
