chef, don't post if you aren't going to answer the question. Unlike holdem, converting stud hands isn't really that important. I don't think that anyone who answers stud questions on this board actually cares if they are converted or not.
To the OP, that hand is absolutely awful. It doesn't matter what your opponent is playing, I'd say almost every hand he could have would be a favorite over you. Just fold to begin with. |

| Strasse is right-If this was stud I'd say see a few cards. Here, you're only shooting for half the pot to start with 22T? Not good. |

I get that this is a horrible start off hand and I wouldn't normally play it but I was bring in and i check/folded at 4th so I still saw 5th. At 5th I and got the second. Should I have check/folded all the way from there? He has 3 dead cards for a queen/king high straight and 2 dead specifically his connector for a 9 high straight. Also his higher pairs have 1 dead each needing trips or two pair. As for the low hand best case scenario he has to catch two low cards. Whereas I figure I have 1 dead heart to a long shot flush and no dead cards to my pairs. Would you have played it at this point and if so what would make you fold at this point? Final thought I figured the other person was going to fold because they had been playing aggressively if they had a hand. I thought if they both called/raised I was going to check fold.
Is this still completely unsound reasoning at this point?
Finally I would agree that I played it horribly after 5th. |

Split 2's w/a crappy kicker, especially with two of them burned, it's never worth defending. I'll usually only defend this with a suited additional wheel card. Otherwise it really has no value.
When a 7 door catches a nine, you should consider it a scare card as it falls in a straight range. Granted, many will complete some razzy hands, but whenever a straight card falls, you should always reassess. |

Ok that makes sense, but how should I re asses when there's a loose canon with those cards that I have watched call/bet every hand with a draw hand that needs two specific cards by 5th? |

| No question...dump those 2s. This is a terrible hand and you need to look for a better spot even against a maniac, because you're way behind even a random hand. |
