have had this draw on 6th street 4 or 5 times in the last few months and have never completed it !! (Not alway the same suit, I'm showing this one with a heart flush draw.but you get the idea)
dealt: 2h3h4h
4th street: 5c looking GOOD !!
5th street: 5h whoah baby look out!
6th street 4s arrrrrr but now have have the open ender, 4 flush & 2 pair
WHY is 7th street ALWAYS a friggin BRICK ? and it NEVER fails, someone takes the low with an 87 or 86 POS RAZZ hand ! and the high goes to an idiot with Ks up usually after calling to 7th on a pr of 9s or 10s only to pair his K on 7th street ! and twice they didn't come exactly in the order I'm showing here & I couldn't believe the callers I was getting with what I had SHOWING (2345 all suited and STILL they call )! is it possible to miss a 25 out hand 5 times in row? now I do realize that all 25 are probably not in the deck but still.... and 10 of those are scoop cards ! for those that can't count : Ax4 6x4 7h 8h 10 cards for the scoop. 7x3 8x3 for low, 9 10 J Q K hearts and 4x2 & 5x2 for hi
a monster draw turns into 2 baby pairs ..... yeehaw ! |

Well, how are you playing it on 3rd street? Are you raising for value? Are you limping because you are starting perfect and want as much money in there as possible? What position are you in? What has your table been playing like? How many people are playing? Have you noticed any loose or tight players? Any players playing a lot of high cards or anybody playing mostly razz hands? We need more info.
I'd bet and raise till the cows come home for the sheer value of your hand and all your possible outs. Just calling or checking on any street is a HUGE no-no in this situation. When you get two small pair on 6th your goal by then is to have it HU and at max only be facing 2 opponents in this type of vulnerable, yet-to-be-made hand. Your hand is valuable, JAM THE POT!
I've been in this situation a few times too and yeah its frustrating but don't let it put you on tilt. Be cautiously agressive and bet your hand based on its value, don't let your opponents catch their hand. If this is play chips then they will chase so make them pay.
David Sklansky has a nice little chapter in Supersystem 1 and I suggest you read it in depth. It has helped me with my stud8 game. Also keep reading posts in this forum for help along with hitting the tables and taking mental or physical notes if you want. Save your hand histories and post them on here for discussion. There are a few good stud8 players on here....Strasse, Zophar, Cubbies and a few others that have good card sense. Keep trying man, You'll get it. GL! |

raising EVERY street
this hand has cost me 4 tourneys at or near the bubble!
fishy table every time I've had this draw, never less than 5 way action on 5th street (lots of donks chasing WEAK one way hands. stuff like 9 9 10 & 8 7 2 rainbow) if I could get someone to fold a POS once in a while maybe there would be enough cards left in the deck for me to hit!
I generally have a very tight agressive table image, I only play hands that show scoop possibilities (unless I'm rolled up) & I don't believe in giving free cards (unless I have a wheel on 5th street & even then I don't ALWAYS give a free card)
if I have a solid draw or made hand early it WILL cost you if you want to try to outdraw me!
HAVE read SS1 & 2 |
