Its my favorite game, but it seems to be falling by the roadside while the no limit games are skyrocketing in popularity.

Hope she makes a comeback, I love this game. Very Happy

Maybe not nesccesarily dying but you notice the lack of popularity more now with the Boom of Hold'em. That's all that's shown here on TV in the UK (not sure about US) and not many people take the effort to discover more gametypes.

Although, i must add that i really hate 7 card stud! Very Happy Although it's not as bad as 5 card. Evil or Very Mad

I like the fact that its a slower paced game.

The dont show much 7 stud in the US, just the WSOP event. Crying or Very sad

And 5 card is REALLY dead, right alongside of 5 draw. Just hope my precious 7 card doesnt join them.

the real prob is hold em is a game where everyone can think they are good but just unlucky. stud PROVES if you are good or not. it is a hold or fold game you cant miss your draw and go all in in hopes of stealing a pot (although in higher limits you can get away with a check raise on 7th and force a fold)

i personally like stud8 better. so if stud is dying stud8 must be on life support.

FTP needs 10 or more prop players to just play stud games. once people start playing they will keep playing im sure.

personally I prefer 7 card stud over all the other games...i think in 7 stud it really tests your skills...and i believe it is takes the most skill you cant rely on high limits and all in's to get your opponent out of a pot.

I don't think stud is dying. In fact I think it's growing. More and more players are realizing they can't just have HE as the only part of their game.

5 card in it's pure form may be dry, but 2-7 lowball SD & TD are growing quite a bit.

I love 7 stud and I am pretty sure it is the first game most people ever learn how to play. Excluding War, Go Fish, etc... Personally it is probably the truest form of poker left that is still being played on a large scale. Lets face watching heads up stud is almost exciting as watching grass grow. So, that and the amount of cards out make it harder for the average TV poker fan to keep track of whats going on.

I don't think stud is dying - but one thing I have noticed, and many people have confirmed it, stud players are much nicer than hold'em players. Most of the trash-talking teenagers seem to prefer hold'em - so I'll stick to stud.

i dont think stud is dying, its just stayed the same when it comes to talking about growth... all the hold em games have grown a huge amount, and while stud hasn't grown as much, it has grown nonetheless...

I learned 5 card draw first...only poker game you can play without chips that is fun.

I think you have a good point here. There don't seem to be any fewer 7 stud games than there used to be -- in fact, with the advent of online poker and an explosion in the number of B&M poker rooms in the past couple of years, there probably are more 7 stud games available than there used to be.

It's just that Hold-em has exploded so much in the past couple or three years to feed the current poker boom and there are an infinite number of holdem games out there now that 7 stud pales in comparison.

It's not dying, just not as popular as it was. Still a lot of activity both live and online in regard to Stud. FTP have the best ante structure too, so it's a shame there aren't more games. I suggested to support that to get more stud players, they could have it so that you get Full Tilt points faster at Stud than at HE(ie: double), but they ignored it.
