"How Much you got?"
I have been asked this question on several occasions during a live table game when I am betting on my hand which I really like alot because of it is the "Nuts" with the what is on the board at the Turn or the River.
Of course I want the call from the opponent who asks this, how can I reply so as not to give a "Tell" that my hand is the best?
Or should I not look down at my chips and begin counting? Is there some sort of tell in doing this?
I thought of replying simply instead to the fellow..."I don't know, Count it." and leaning back. Or staying as still as possible and not replying in any way.
Suggestions? Insights?

Tell him to count it himself. That way you might irritate him into calling.
Or... count it out into stacks and bang each stack aggressively onto the table as you do so. You might get a call from somebody who had read Caro's Book of Tells. |

Don't lean back, leaning back is a sign that you wan't action. Leaning back is a sign of confidence. Example, if you walk into any public place and observe people, mostly men, and you pick out the people leaning back, taking up a lot of space versus the ones arms crossed, and tight together you'll notice an air of self assurance about them. Contrary to this, if you view a person with their arms crossed, keeping themselves about themselves you can sense some sort of insecurity or a lack of confidece.
If I were you I'd be a bit defensive about the question, maybe make slight eye contact then dart your eyes away, do that a few times, and mutter something; "um, well, I think I have about 1250 in chips." If your opponent isn't a well rounded player he might not pick up on the weak means strong tell, but if you have a different read on him, possibly as being experienced, act like you actually have an amazing hand...play some reverse psychology, this will very tough to pick up on.
There is an interesting article on Alex's site that discusses observations about how people perceive bluffing...go read it.

I actually got a lot of action in a similar situation once.
All I said was 'Are you sure you want to call? I've got a flush.' He called immediately with his straight, and lost, of course. |

| Of course, changing what you do with a big hand is the BEST advice, I am often as nice, courteous and helpful as I can possibly be when I have a big hand... almost too nice if you know what I mean. |

| Can you say "count it yourself?" I don't play in a casino, so I'm not positive about the etiquette involved, but aren't you obligated to give a count to any player that asks? |

You don't have to give any information away in a Casino - if the other player wants a chip count, the dealer of the table can count for you... least thats been my experience.
When someone asks how much I got I just ignore them and keep doing what I was doing before |

If you play psychological games with people at the table you will eventually go crazy. "Did he call because I looked weak?" "Damn, did I just make him fold?" Practice counting your chips and do it the same way every time. Same goes for counting out your chips when you're betting.
Be like Chris Ferguson. He's very machine-like, and doesn't give off any tells. If you do everything at the table the same way every time nobody will be able to pick up tells on you. |

I got action too in a similar circumstance - but I said, "More than you want to bet." |
