I know I'm playing hands right and it just kills me since i lose about 60% of the time. flop comes 5 7 8 all diff. suit. I have pocket 8's so i go all in! i get one caller with pocket 9's. turn comes 6! ugh! next hand i play i have Ad Ac flop comes 7c 8c 10c i go all in with top pair and nut flush draw. opponent called me with Jh Jc. whats the turn you ask? 9h!!!!
grrr..... should i have seen one more card before going all in? or deciding to fold my hand? woulda been a tough fold!
would you have waited till the turn to make a move then fold if felt you were beat? i guess those are things i need to improve on so i can become a good tourney player! |

| why are you going all in with these hands right off the flop? And how much are you going all-in with compared to the size of the pot? There's nothing you can do about bad beats but if you are overbetting the pot you aren't putting youself in position to maximize your gains, as you may be forcing players off lesser hands that may call to a smaller bet. Bad betas are a part of poker but the 2 callers weren't wrong to call they just got fortunate hitting straights. You'll win those more often than not but you may want to think about getting the most out of your big hands rather than be so tempted to just push all in. |

| I like that fact that you are willing to push all your chips in, don't listen to these fools who talk percentages and pot odds. Move in as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, you just aren't a winner. Try playing something that you can win at like ...... well....... just watch the games from now on, you can't lose if you do that. |

| my guess is that you didnt put in a good raise preflop, playing aces mildly always leads to them getting cracked at some point |

Hrmm...well, far as I can tell you played fairly well. THe large, all-in bet was probably call-able inthe 1st case, seeing as he probably thought he had you high-piared or on a straight draw too. It wasn't a great play, for him to call, but he did and it wasn't an absurd play at that time. I'm sure he wasn't happy to see your trip 8s. Probably thought you were on face cards or something...or he was clueless and got lucky.
Regarding the Jacks, he called cause, from his point of view, he probably had ya high-paired and had outs to a striaght. Again...he just got lucky.
Regarding your play speed...it depends on the table, no hard and fast rule. You seem to be in with some calling stations here, just from what you've said. Yeah, they had outs...but still...
Regarding the all-ins...yeah, they're viable. But in ring games, the all-in as a bluff rarely works over time because eventually someone probably actually has the nuts and you lose. Better in tournaments, really, in cash games just take it slow unless your sure of the table, your hand, and your opponents likely reactions.
My $.02, take it for what it's worth. |
