Just remember that AA23 DS DOES not equal AA in hold'em!
AA23 gets craked more often than AA does in hold'em
I personally like getting A K 4 7 in omaha hi/lo |

Call me crazy, I like KQJT DS best - especially if 3 or more call a raise preflop.
(1) Post flop, I know where I stand.
(2) I'd rather bet to take all of a high than hope to win hi and lo. |

| my opinion on the topic is who really cares? someone just told me that the odds of getting AA23ds are 1 in 18,000 so who gives a crap? these hands (AAK2ds, even AA23 no suits) are auto cappers, but who cares? It's not like you're going to be in a situation where you have AAK2ds and you're worrying if your opponent has AA23ds. So who cares? Its like arguing if quad kings are better than quad queens, there's probibly a definitive answer... both hands.... any hand with A23 is great even lets not argue over whether shaq or kobe is better. |

Whatever the best starting hand is... you need to be able to fold it if necessary. I see waaaayyy too many people play hands like aa23 all the way down with a board like kk9qj and they get mad that they lost. (not that I mind taking their money).
I always remind myself that it is a starting hand... not an ending hand.
And... aa23 d/s is the best starting hand. It is just simple math. It's value is higher with less players and goes down as more players are in a pot.
aa23 d/s is better statistically than aa in holdem. The problem is there are a whole lot of people who do not know how to play plo8 and it seems to win less.
I personally like akqj or 4 high cards if I can limp in. I also limp with aaxx 2/s and hope to trap. If an ace comes nobody expects the set and you can over set someone for a good pot.

In omaha h/l you are looking for the scoop (win both the high and the low). This way, you have AA, both nut flush draws, and three ways to get the nut low. |
