In "Math made easy" Andy Bloch explains pot-calculating.

I wonder if you have to take the rake into the equision. In big games it takes sometimes 20% of the pot away.

You don't need to factor it in to your calculation if rake is a percentage, because

(1-Rake Percentage) * (Cost of Call) / [ (1-Rake Percentage) * (Cost of Call) + (1-Rake Percentage) * (Pot Size) ] = (Cost of Call) / [ (Cost of Call) + (Pot Size) ]

edit: wrote something wrong here. I always thought rake came from the pot at the end, but turns out everyone pays it? Hence why it doesn't come up in pot odds calculations.

Without having viewed the lesson, I'll chance a guess: Because it wouldn't be a part of your winnings?

But it decreases your potential win, therefore it is part of your winnings.
