| Did anybody else see Ivey muck a winning flush? I was watching WSOP 09 on ESPN and could not believe what happened. I quess all pros no matter what sport or profession makes a mistake. |

| What an ameture Donk! It's an east mistake to make, especially live when if you double check your hole cards you pretty much give away that you have a spade. He could have made sure like chris ferguson does before mucking though. |

Anyone who has read Gus Hansen's book re. his Aussie Millions win, knows that even an experienced pro can be so focused on other elements of the hand and the game in general, that they can overlook when an unexpected hand hits. In the case of Gus, he had a single Ace of diamonds and by the river there were 4 diamonds on the board, but because he continuation bet the flop and then shut down on the turn, he missed value on the river when he flushed because in his mind he simply had his bluff called and so he didn't need to fire any more bullets. Gus kinda puts himself down in the book, re. that hand, kinda funny to read his own thoughts on it. |

Yeah it's almost as though sometimes pros can do the complete opposite of ametures and not take into consideration their cards at all! But surely as soon as that 4th spade comes down, the immediate reaction is to think whether you have a flush or not. |

I just love how he WAITS until the guy not only says "Ace" but also flips over the A9... then he mucks (maybe he thought the guy's 9 was a spade? ...d'oh...) |

Because you said this it is quite clear you know nothing about Phil Ivey, his goal is to win the tournament and you do that by winning chips and BTW besides mucking the flush he didn't do anything wrong in the hand. |

| yeah, I caught it... it was unfortunate but it goes to show that even the biggest pros are human. I made that mistake once (that I am aware of). I was in a hand with pocket diamonds... Ad in hand - the flop had two diamonds... I was so focused on trying to catch my nut flush that when someone made a river bet - I mucked without thinking... only after my hand went into muck did I take time to actually read the rest of the board... the river would've made me a straight. Uck. I was so annoyed, the raiser was betting his pair. But that's life, you live and learn. |

| He gave his thoughts on it, he forgot what suits his hands were. Once the betting is stopped, I see nothing wrong with re-checking your cards. LOL to whomever thought he mucked a winning hand to preserve his table image. |
