Obviously I was trying to represent that I hadn't paired. I just can't see his calls on 6th (and 7th) when I pretty clearly have a made 7 and he is at best drawing to a 9!
On 7th, his draw to a 9 is 3-1 against hitting, so 75% of the time I think I win it on 7th when he doesn't hit his 9.
The only mistake I can see in this hand (besides deciding to bluff at all) is the check on 5th. Maybe he would have laid down a T-9 against a four card 7? I know conventional wisdom is to call on 4th when you brick but then get out if you don't catch good on 5th, but he paired on 6th and STILL called, so I don't know how he would fold on 5th.
Seems like the right play on the wrong player. |

| You have a good bit to learn about this game, and about what typical opponents will do in these kind of tourneys. Frankly, villain played this hand better than you did, but I hope you keep playing and improving. GL |

Do you mean that this is a bad play always and I should just check on 4th, or that I have to learn that donks will always call me down even when they double brick?
EDIT: looking back at the hand we jammed on 3rd so he obviously had a premium that was probably 6 or lower that he would chase pretty far with since he knew it was better than my 7 door card. He was getting like 8-1 on 4th and 5.5-1 on 6th (after my suspicious check on 5th) so I guess he can't really ever fold there even with just a 9 draw, and these are just spew bets. Is this what you are getting at? |

4th was fine, you have to semibluff here in case villain bricks 5th and you catch good so you might get a fold. Once villain calls you on 6th tho there's no hope of him folding on 7th so bluffing there is pretty spewy. From villain's point of view, he's making very thin calls but in a big pot so he doesn't have to win very often for them to be correct. In general, hoping villains will fold in these tourneys is folly unless you have them so crushed that you'd rather they call. |

| Try to imagine what the villain was thinking here... When you re-raised 3rd, people often assume you have A2 in the hole. I think it is pretty clear that he assumed you had paired the 2. Looking at his down cards, we see he was drawing to a 6. While a draw to a 6 isn't much better than a draw to a 7, it is better. So now he feels he has a better draw, he feels youve paired your 2, and now here comes your K. Combine all the negative factors in your hand and then add the pot odds that tell him to call down since there were 3 bets on 3rd st. Once you contribute to a large pot initially, assume that anyone who knows the odds will be calling you down if they have any sort of hand at all. |
