Anyone else find that the hardest part of this challenge is open-folding a suited Ax 5 times? Seems like it's always the last thing I have to complete...

Y'know, I never find that part of the task too hard....although this task isn't as clear-cut as it may seem. Sure, folding A2s UTG is a no-brainer. But open-folding A9s (or A8s, I forget the requriements) preflop on the button is just stupid.

Um...yeah....not saying that it's hard to fold 'em when you get 'em, but that there are many more ways to make the strong hands (part 1 of the challenge) than there are ways to make a suited ace w/a 9 or lower kicker. It's just the math. Any dope can fold A3s under the gun...

yes as i remember this was the hardest part of the challenge. not only is it tough to get dealt <A8s to have an unopened pot as well. Then to top it all off if i'm OTB with AXs i'm not folding it. Well I did start to fold it OTB just to get this challenge done.

OP-
I ran this on my handy dandy calculator.
It's about 45:1-50:1 to catch A2-A9 suited, on top of it
having to show up in EP, because if you're grinding these challenges in micros, you get lots of limpers up front. In this case I've limped along w/
A2-A9 suited- out of ANGER- and punish them viciously when the flush hits.
but yeah, it was usually the last item for me too.

To be honest the Ax is easy to complete I find. I don't play to many rag aces even suited, as suited only adds +3% to a rag aces strength, so if its a bad hand its a bad hand. Flushes flopping aren't great odds and then you're left playing a weak ace. Sure I'm not folding an ace from CO or BTN, and certainly not if folded to me and the blinds have shown any weakness. I sure have no problem folding Ax from UTG to MP's as unless you playing micros you aren't often getting away with limping to often and if you are raised calling OOP you kind of hoping on a fairly low odds chance of seeing your flush or playing a weak hand oop, which sucks.

Try raising the limpers to punish them. Don't make me look bad dude. You are my sock puppet.

only when its A9-8 on the button or the SB. i'd rather play it & forget about the challenge. the others are just rags and only get you in trouble.

Just to give some a laugh......(though just have done the challenge 3 times where it has been the same to me as above describesd and started 4th today )....

On todays session (like 150 hands total, playing 2 tables) i managed 4 times the Ax-thingy while i only could do the 3 BB raise once......kinda card dead day for me ;o)

Cheers Grimmiii

Yeah, in many of the challenges its easy to be a victim of circumstances. sometimes the right situation just takes forever to come along

I find its the most difficult section of the challenge to complete simply because 'unless' your UTG....every player MUST fold to you. Even if just 'one' calls or raises it won't count if you fold the hand.

Its easy enough for me to fold personally...but I can't control whether other players play or not. I'll multi table 5-6 tables just to try to increase my frequency of suited hands...just frustrating that when you do hit one and plan to fold...somebody else calls or raises in front.

Best suggestion I can offer is to try to play at tables where there's a low % of players to see the flop...increases the chances there won't be many limpers.
