Villian has been shown to be more aggressive than average, but not overly. Is bet/fold right here? I'm inclined to think not, but check/call seems weak, and check/fold seems nitty. Opinions?

| I think it's correct. You've got a weak high and not a great low draw. I'm still learning the game so I'd be interested to here what other people think and their reasoning, but I would say you made the correct move. I would say that by betting you got to see where you were at, and with your 33 in the window i'd say you were beat. I'd like to hear your reasoning, maybe I can learn a thing or two. |

I get torn in these spots as I find it's really player dependent on how to play it. I'll tend to c/c 4th here most of the time. Nothing is really invested and there's no need to bloat the pot and constantly be OOP with this weak a hand.
If he's semi aggressive, he should be raising 4th here the majority of the time, so there's no value gained by semibluffing. If he's more lag, I like seeing 5th, as we hold some important cards for any solid hand. If he's tag, I'm just folding. If the 8 were a 6 or lower, I'd be much more comfortable betting.
As played I call usually and re-evaluate on 5th. He didn't complete, so he likely didn't start three to a wheel, likely something razzy like yours. I think it still pretty marginal. |

| At first I bet because I was hoping he'd fold, but looking back, I think I had almost no fold equity. It's likely he started 3 to a low, which means he either just made 4 to a low with an ace, or a pair of aces, neither of which he's folding. So I no longer like my bet. Calling seems bad because the only thing I can hope for is a draw to a low(and calling with a draw to a draw feels bad), or a weak two pair(I'll probably be c/cing the whole way down, which seems really weak, and also possibly -EV, but definately very marginal), or aces up or trips, which would be nice, but few cards would give me that anyways, and the trips would kill my action anyways. Check/folding seems bad because I'm just letting him runover me because he hit an ace. |

As played the fold there was was correct no sense in getting 2 bets in on this hand on 4th its not that strong.
However I think c/c is the right play heads up with a pair and still a shot at low. While the bets are still cheap seeing 5th where every thing can change very quickly is probly right since a bad catch for him and good for you still leaves you a chance for a scoop. |

| The bets are still cheap, but there is only 2.10 in the pot as well. This means that if I only end up getting half, I'm only getting $1 out of the original pot. The more I think about this hand, I think either check fold or check raise is the best play, not bet/fold or check/call. |

My first thought when you said this is "what? check/call and see the turn", but after thinking for a few seconds, I agree. I like check/raise better though. Unless he has a great read or is someone "that cant spell poker", a check raise will let you see 5th and possibly 6th for free.
As played, I think fold is in order too. But I'm much tighter than most here. |
